The American Red Cross is continually looking for new volunteers. Currently the American Red Cross is fully staffed for the Slide Fire disaster response through the end of the week. However, new volunteers may be called upon to assist with the response after that time, and they will also be available for other responses throughout the wildfire season.

The Red Cross has opened a shelter at Sinagua Middle School, 3950 E. Butler Ave. in Flagstaff, for those displaced by the fire in Oak Creek Canyon.
Highway 89A between Flagstaff and Sedona is closed. Smoke from the fire is visible throughout the region.
The human caused fire is being investigated.
