What is Integrated Care and Why Does it Matter?
Integrated Medicine. Coordinated Care. These are terms we are hearing more and more. What do they mean? Why should we care? Integrated health care means providers are working more closely together to ensure patients have access to the services and experts they need to help them be healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. There is no denying the … [Read more...] about What is Integrated Care and Why Does it Matter?
Investing Lifestyle Expenses in Memorable Experiences
Financial envy is even more of a thing now than it was back in 1913 when cartoonist Arthur R. “Pop” Momand debuted the comic strip “Keeping Up with the Joneses,” which centered on the misadventures of Aloysius P. McGinnis and his family, who were always trying to keep up with their never-seen neighbors, the Joneses. Today, we not only have television shows displaying lifestyles of the rich and famous, we’re punched with images and status updates in social media, too. We not only see the … [Read more...] about Investing Lifestyle Expenses in Memorable Experiences
Make a Little Garden Out of Life
Every day, we are challenged with busy schedules, deadlines, never ending technology and social media avenues. We often rush through our daily routines and then think, “Where did the day go?” We go home to our family, friends, pets and neighbors. We spend quality time with them and then prepare for the next daily adventure. My husband, Richard, and I were having a coffee talk on the porch this week. He brought up the fact that so many folks are disconnected from nature with technology, the … [Read more...] about Make a Little Garden Out of Life
Don’t Let Distracted Driving Wreck Your Summer Vacation

This behavior can endanger the driver, passengers and bystanders. Distracted driving can include a myriad of activities, … [Read more...] about Don’t Let Distracted Driving Wreck Your Summer Vacation

Speech Understanding in Wind
Wind noise has been an ongoing issue since the beginning of hearing aid use. I remember 30 years ago talking to people about managing wind noise when they were wearing a body-worn hearing aid. I asked people to change the direction they were facing so their back was to the wind or stand sideways to the wind. I helped parents design headbands to be worn over the ear level hearing aids to protect the hearing aid on their child from wind exposure. I recommend that people wear baseball caps with … [Read more...] about Speech Understanding in Wind
