Dependent on fire activity, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) expects to lift its pre-evacuation warning for residents impacted by the Slide Fire in the Kachina Village and Forest Highlands subdivisions atnoon Monday, May 26. SATURDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE : Fire officials say the Slide Fire has reached nearly 11,000 acres and as many as 1000 firefighters are working the blaze this weekend. As smoke continues to fill the sky over Flagstaff from the Slide Fire in Oak Creek Canyon, some residents are packing their belongings and preparing for possible evacuation. One estimate on the fire size puts it at about 7500 acres. Flagstaff residents have voted in favor of the Flagstaff Regional Plan. After ballots were counted this evening, 75% of voters (4743 people) voted in favor of the plan; 24.71% (1557 residents voted against the measure.
