Road Construction Season in Full Swing
Flagstaff's construction season is in full swing, creating delays throughout the city. ADOT crews also are busy with numerous projects along I-17 between Northern Arizona and Phoenix. Supai Residents Evacuating
Update August 2nd. This Red Cross Shelter has been closed, due to lack of participation by evacuees. The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter is mobilizing this afternoon to open a shelter for residents of Supai Village in the Grand Canyon. Approximately 500 members of the Havasupai Tribe have been asked by safety officials to evacuate due to flooding that knocked out a water well pump and its backup generator. The Kaibab National Forest recently teamed with an organization from the Alamo Navajo Indian Reservation to complete a fuels reduction and habitat improvement project on the forest’s Tusayan Ranger District while providing employment opportunities for Alamo community members. City of Flagstaff officials are making sandbags available for people to fill up, and sandbags remain available at the Silver Saddle store in Doney Park.
