“Americans come together in times like this,” said Governor Jan Brewer. “I’m proud that our Arizona National Guard is assisting in this critical emergency-response mission, and that SRP and APS are sending much-needed equipment and personnel to help return power to the East Coast. The State of Arizona stands ready to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy in any way possible.”
The Guardsmen from the 161st have established 24/7 operations to support over 20 Air Force planes that are expected to fly in and out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to transport personnel, vehicles and equipment for this mission.
