It’s the start of a new fiscal year for local government in Arizona. Our new fiscal year here in Coconino County starts July 1, and as a result of decisions on the state level, the county faces new expenses. The Coconino County Board of Supervisors approved the county’s FY2016 budget during a special session June 23. The budget, totaling approximately $175 million, reflects a $26 million decrease from the previous year. This is primarily because of a reduction in federal and state grants used … [Read more...] about Reviewing Coconino County’s Fiscal Year 2016 Budget

Keeping Your House Cool in the Summer
Summer is here and the temperature is rising. Keeping your home cool in the summer can be a real challenge, particularly if you don’t have air conditioning. It may sound obvious, but the most important way to keep your house cool is to keep the heat out during the day. Heat enters the home through two primary pathways: windows and attic spaces. Getting Hit By the Bus
Thanks for all the questions that were emailed to me this month at [email protected]. There was one reoccurring question that I heard not just from readers, but interestingly, I was asked this by a handful of the companies I work with through the Northern Arizona Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (NACET) Accelerator: “How do I know when it is time to hire a general manager or an operations manager?” If you, as the business owner or CEO, are running all aspects of your … [Read more...] about Getting Hit By the Bus
