
Obtaining information on managing credit card bills, debt, saving and financing is often not top of mind for most high school students, yet the financial decisions they make can have long-term effects. Web-based training, powered by EverFi, uses video, animations, 3-D gaming, avatars, and social networking to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation, helping them to become certified in over 600 topics in financial education.
Speakers, at Coconino High School, included (pictured left to right): Sherri Slayton, Executive Vice President, Alliance Bank of Arizona; Stacie Zanzucchi, Coconino High School Principal; Jerry Nabours, Flagstaff Mayor; Mary Walton, Assistant Superintendent, Flagstaff School District. Other speakers included Jonathan Edwards, Coconino High School Economics instructor; Jill Lehman, the school’s Manager for Everfi. Speakers discussed the importance of financial education to high school students, provided information on how this educational initiative will transform learning in the classroom and highlighted the value of public-private partnerships in making it all happen.
